VISITOR'S GUIDE

Accessing :

When strong winds blow from westerly to south westerly the Eastern Dunkirk entrance is known as the easiest of all between Boulogne and Zeebrugge.

The West Port is accessible at any time either :

  • through the West Channel from the Dyck light buoy. This channel is marked out with DW buoys.
  • or through the East Channel, marked out with E buoys, by taking the Zuydcoote channel.
  • The buoyage enables one to clear the sand banks north of the channels.

Of course yachtsmen must keep clear of commercial vessels and observe the port traffic signals on the Western pier.

After entering just follow the south east channel inside.

The Yacht Club de la Mer du Nord  (Yacht club of the North Sea) with its tidal pontoons and berths lies on starboard near the end of the dock.
